Connect Exact Online to Power BI and your Azure data warehouse

Yres retrieves data from Exact Online through the official Exact Online REST API, using OAuth2 sign-in. You log in once via Exact; after that Yres refreshes access itself and loads the selected data on your schedule into an Azure SQL database in your own Azure tenant. There the data is historized and combined with your other sources, ready for Power BI. Yres is an official Exact partner.

What you arrange yourself
- 1Register an app for your own use in the Exact Online App Center: one for your development environment and one for production.
- 2Copy the redirect URL exactly as Yres shows it in the connection form; Exact rejects the sign-in if it differs.
- 3Enter the Client ID and Client secret in Yres and click sign in with Exact Online. Yres fetches the tokens.
- 4Choose the administration and select the data you want to load.
When you need this — and when you don't
A standalone connector is enough if…
If you only need the figures of one Exact administration in Power BI, a standalone Exact–Power BI connector is sufficient.
Yres adds value if…
Yres earns its place once you combine Exact with other sources (AFAS, a CRM, a WMS, Excel budgets), need to keep history, or want reporting to keep working while you switch accounting packages.

Do I have to keep signing in to Exact Online?
No. You sign in once per environment. Yres keeps the refresh token in your own database and renews the short-lived access token automatically on every load.
Why do I need two Exact apps?
Yres works with separate environments for development and production. Exact ties a sign-in to one app and one redirect URL, so each environment gets its own app. That way a test can never disturb the production connection.
Does Yres take Exact's API limits into account?
Exact caps the number of API calls per app and per administration. By loading incrementally, Yres only fetches changed rows each run, which keeps usage low. You set the load frequency per table.
Signing in to Exact Online fails. What is usually the cause?
Almost always the redirect URL. Exact compares it character by character with what is configured on your app. So copy the URL from the connection form in Yres rather than typing it; a missing slash is enough to be rejected.
